Self Portrait Final
Final Reflection:
Throughout this class I feel as though I gained valuable knowledge on drawing and the process of creation. At the end of this course I felt accomplished and proud. My favorite work that I completed this semester was my carousel drawing. I learned a lot about perspective, shading, and layering through prisma.

Final “Look What I Can See Through” Project
The craftsmanship of my drawing includes lots of fine pencil lines and careful coloring. My choice of colors is repetitive in the use of bright, warm shades. All the colors compliment each other. I created contrast by making each Barbie doll box a different color with a different Barbie inside. I used highlights on the plastic Barbie boxes and skin as well as the hair. I added shadows behind the boxes to add a three dimensional effect. I chose a green background because it compliments all of the colors nicely and adds slight contrast without taking away from the Barbie doll boxes. It’s important to understand how prisma can be layered to create a wide range of values. I had slight difficulties when coloring the skin tones but overall I’m satisfied with the result.

Perspective Drawing Final Project
I created the perspective of riding a horse carousel at the fair. I believe my drawing was successful and I’m very happy with the outcome. The colors all coincide with one another and compliment nicely. It’s important to understand the perspective of the carousel so the size of each horse and pole was correct. Color pencil exercises such as coloring the fruit helped to reinforce the idea that colors from outside the norm can be used to highlight an object. The craftsman ship required a lot of shading as well as blending knowledge, I feel as though I have come a long ways from my first colored pencil drawing this year. I was able to achieve depth with a foreground- close up horse, middle ground- distant horses and the carousel ceiling/ lights, and the background- the fair and the grass.

Contour Room Final
I used a fluid line through out the piece, which can be seen as my pen moved from the clock to the exit sign or from table to table. Maintaining a fluid line was difficult with the perspective of the drawing but overall I’m pleased.
The success of my piece can be attributed to the smaller contour drawings I practiced, such as the contour show ale and hand. The activity we did where we drew a blind contour of our hands greatly helped me not to rush and to remain focused on every line.
An individual’s interpretation of line is essential to capturing the whole room correctly. If one does not understand that the line needs to be connected, (not sketched) the contour aspect of the piece will not be successful.
I really enjoyed the contour drawings. If I could redo the room I’d take more time in the ceiling and study it more carefully.

Still Life Final Complete
The composition of this piece was not my favorite but I grew in my knowledge of how to shade objects. I chose to use different shading textures for different objects in the piece. The perspective was difficult but overall I feel like l achieved the correct angles.
